Report: Suri Cruise to Attend $40,000 School

Ray Tamarra/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Six-year-old Suri Cruise may soon be jet-setting not just with her famous, divorced parents, but for school, too.

Suri will reportedly start first grade at Avenues, a brand-new $40,000 a year school in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, Life and Style magazine reports.

“Katie has eagerly been telling Suri all about the lunchrooms, basketball courts and different activities Avenues offers. Suri’s really excited about it,” a source tells the magazine.

Earlier this month reports said that Suri would attend Convent of the Sacred Heart School, home to famous alumni including Lady Gaga and Paris Hilton, on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. But sources confirm to Life and Style, the six-year-old will attend Avenues.

Avenues is scheduled to open in fall 2012. The 215,000-square-foot school plans to open more than 20 campuses all around the world in exotic places such as Beijing, Mumbai and Sao Paulo, where students can do semesters abroad. Students will learn basic subjects such as reading, writing, science and math but also have the opportunity for higher learning such as studying Mandarin as early as pre-kindergarten. Students will participate in athletics at Chelsea Piers, where Suri already takes gymnastics classes.

The school, located on Tenth Avenue at 25th street, is just steps away from Suri’s mom, Katie Holmes’ Chelsea apartment. The building has a rooftop playground and fitness center, where Suri can hide from paparazzi.

Ex-Porn Star Reads to Elementary School Kids; District to Investigate

Steven Lawton/FilmMagic(COMPTON, Calif.) -- After receiving complaints about an ex-porn star visiting an elementary school, district officials are planning to meet with the agent who scheduled her appearance, and rethink the booking process.

Compton, Calif., school officials said they weren’t informed of her past work when they agreed to host her.

Sasha Grey, a former adult film actress who made her last porn film two years ago and has since moved to more mainstream acting roles, participated in the guest reading program at Emerson Elementary School in Compton, reading a book called Dog Breath to a group of students.

At first, the school denied she was ever there, telling TMZ that “the actress you indicated was not present.” Then TMZ found pictures of her reading to the students, and she tweeted that she spent the morning reading to first- and third-graders.

In a statement, the Compton Unified School District said the talent coordinator for the program listed Grey as an actress who had been on Entourage when she was proposed as a participant, and her previous experience in adult films wasn’t mentioned.

The school district said it will review the selection process for participants with a coordinator to avoid potentially controversial readers in the future.
