Channing Tatum Is "People" Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive 2012

Stuart Wilson/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Actor Channing Tatum, who had audiences swooning when he appeared as a stripper in the 2012 film Magic Mike, has been named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive 2012.

The actor joins the select club of Hollywood heartthrobs who have taken the title since the magazine first began bestowing it in 1985.

Actor Bradley Cooper, who appeared in The Hangover, received the honor last year. Other previous Sexiest Men include Mel Gibson, Nick Nolte, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Pierce Brosnan, Johnny Depp and Richard Gere.

Tatum, 32, hails from Alabama.  He reportedly loves giving massages to his wife, actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum, and wants to start a family.

“I’m ready; I think she’s ready,” he tells People in the issue that hits newsstands Friday.  “The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we’ll see where we go after that.”

“It’s really easy for us guys to say, ‘I want like 15 kids,’” he continues.  “Jenna will be like, ‘Well you better get another wife!’”

The special issue also names worthy celebrity men in several other categories, including Men of the Year; Chill Guys; Sexy at Every Age -- which recognizes stars in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s; 50 Shades of Grey (which names salt-and-pepper-haired heartthrobs); and Hot Dogs, which lists Hollywood’s dog lovers.

Game show host Wayne Brady and Drive star Ryan Gosling are among the Hot Dogs, while newlywed Justin Timberlake and Taken 2 actor Liam Neeson are on the Chill Guys list.

Former President Bill Clinton, President Barack Obama, CNN host Anderson Cooper and Skyfall bad guy Javier Bardem are on the 50 Shades of Grey list.

Bradley Cooper Calls Ryan Gosling 'The Greatest'

Theo Wargo/WireImage for Tommy Hilfiger(LONDON) -- The backlash from Ryan Gosling fans following the announcement that People’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2011 is Bradley Cooper has been taken a step further -- by Cooper himself.

Speaking on the U.K. television program The Graham Norton Show, Cooper lightheartedly said that when he sees photographs of Gosling, it reminds him just how unsexy he feels.  Cooper said Gosling is “the greatest.”

Cooper recalled that when both actors were in Paris recently, he was looking at photographs of Gosling and felt like "he’s in a photo shoot, like he just came off the runway.”  Cooper added, “There’s [a photo] of me, and I literally look like a neighbor who never really comes out of his house, and when he does, you’re like, ‘maybe you should just stay in.’”

When People magazine made the announcement last month that Cooper was the Sexiest Man Alive in 2011, Gosling fans went to to show their support for the actor by signing a petition that stated in part that  "People magazine made a huge mistake by choosing Bradley Cooper as the 2011 Sexiest Man Alive. 2011 was clearly the year of Ryan Gosling..."

On living with the title of Sexiest Man Alive, Cooper says, “I have lots of moments where I think ‘I could do that a lot sexier.’”

Bradley Cooper Named 'People's' Sexiest Man Alive for 2011

Theo Wargo/WireImage for Tommy Hilfiger(NEW YORK) -- Actor Bradley Cooper is People magazine’s pick for the 2011 Sexiest Man Alive.

The 36-year-old actor’s blue eyes, alluring smile and all-American appeal would make many woman swoon, but it’s more than just looks that landed The Hangover star the coveted title.

“He’s more than just a good-looking guy,” People senior writer Alexis Chiu said Wednesday on ABC's Good Morning America.  “This guy speaks fluent French, he cooks...he rides a motorcycles, went to Georgetown, loves his mommy a lot and still opens the door for women.”

Cooper follows in the footsteps of past “Sexiest” honorees and Hollywood heavyweights such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and, most recently, Ryan Reynolds.

A number of other A-list hunks scored honorable mentions, including fresh faces Liam Hensworth and Chris Evans, musicians Justin Timberlake and Tim McGraw, and actors Josh Duhamel, Taye Diggs and James McAvoy.  Jennifer Aniston’s current flame, Justin Theroux, also made the list, as well as Crazy, Stupid, Love star Ryan Gosling.

People’s “Sexiest Man Alive 2011″ issue hits newsstands this Friday.

Ryan Reynolds Named 'People' Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive

Photo Courtesy - People Magazine(NEW YORK) -- Ryan Reynolds, star of comedies and action films and husband to actress Scarlett Johansson, has been named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive for 2010.

Reynolds, who is following in the footsteps of past honorees and Hollywood heavyweights like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Sean Connery and Matt Damon, is characteristically self-deprecating about the award.

"The most difficult thing is just going to be to really, you know, organically work it into random conversations with strangers," he joked.

People magazine chose to make the native Canadian its cover stud for its celebrated annual Sexiest Man Alive edition after months of discussion, focus groups and research.  Though the 34-year-old began appearing on television in his teens and graduated to movies by the late 1990s, his star really soared last year when he starred opposite Sandra Bullock in the comedy, The Proposal.

His six-pack abs, meanwhile, took a star turn in 2004 when he played a ripped vampire hunter in Blade: Trinity.  Reynolds' firm physique continues to serve him in superhero films -- this summer, he'll play the title role in The Green Lantern.
