Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Slash Deliver Super Bowl Halftime Show

Photo Courtesy - WireImage/Getty Images(ARLINGTON, Texas) -- The Black Eyed Peas delivered a Super Bowl halftime performance at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas Sunday, marking the first time a pop act took to the stage since Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson's now infamous 2004 “wardrobe malfunction” performance.

The Black Eyed Peas opened their 12-minute set by being lowered from the rafters on individual pedestals attached to cables and launching into a medley of their hits, beginning with “I Gotta Feeling.”  The group was surrounded by clusters of dancers in white bodysuits as they performed.

The Peas then segued into “Boom Boom Pow” as dancers around them on the field appeared, decked out in neon LED outfits apparently borrowed from the set of Tron: Legacy.  The dancers formed various designs, including large arrows.

The set continued with former Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash rising through the stage floor on a platform and accompanying Fergie in a rendition of his former band’s hit “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”  The Prairie View A&M Marching Band then added some horns for the Peas’ tune "Pump It.”  That was followed by the hip hop group’s fifth song of the set, “Let’s Get It Started.”

Usher was then lowered onto the stage by a chain.  He danced a choreographed routine with several dancers, and then was joined by will.i.am to perform his hit “OMG.”

The stage then spelled out the word “LOVE” as the Peas performed “Where Is the love?”  The dancers surrounding the stage were bathed in red light and a large number of them formed a large heart.  Will adjusted the lyrics on the 2003 hit with lines like, “Obama, let’s get these educated.”

The Peas then performed their single “The Time (Dirty Bit)” with several backup dancers wearing cubes on their heads.  The group ended the halftime set the same way they started it, with “I Gotta Feeling.”
