(LOS ANGELES) -- Southpaw, which is set to be Eminem's first movie since 2002's 8 Mile, just inched one step closer to reality. The Hollywood Reporter says that Antoine Fuqua, who directed Training Day, is in talks to direct the movie, which is about a welterweight champion who fights his way back to the top after experiencing a tragedy. The plan is for the movie to start shooting in the fall.
Eminem will play the Bonnaroo festival this Saturday in Tennessee, and then will spend the rest of the summer performing at various other festivals in North America, Europe and the UK, including Lollapalooza and the V Festival. He'll wrap up his live performances at the end of August, leaving his schedule clear for the movie, should the project go forward.
