The versatile actor was accompanied by his mother, along with his Oz the Great and Powerful director Sam Raimi, Seth Rogen, and other friends and family.

His star is located in front of the El Capitan Theatre, near the Jimmy Kimmel Live! studio.  Franco joked that Jimmy Kimmel can shine his star every day.

Jackman joked that his children can take out their frustrations on his star whenever they feel the need to.

He said, "Kids, you don't really understand now but you're going to save a fortune in therapy by just coming here and spitting on it, jumping on it, all those things.  When I annoy you, you can come take it out on here."

Ellen DeGeneres Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

ABC News(LOS ANGELES) -- Less than a week before she begins the 10th season of her daytime talk show, Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  It is the 2,477th star on the famed sidewalk.

Calling her life "an interesting journey," DeGeneres recalled how she visited the Walk of Fame with her family as a child.

She joked, "We looked at the stars on the sidewalk here on Hollywood Boulevard, and we took the tour of celebrity homes.  And now today I'm getting a star on the Walk of Fame and I am a stop on the tour of celebrity homes.  So...don't come by."

DeGeneres' pal, Jimmy Kimmel, offered some kind words on her behalf.

He admired the way she treats "unenlightened people" who attack her because she's gay, saying she "engages them, she asks for understanding, she explains that she just wants to be treated the way she treats people, with kindness and respect."

DeGeneres' mom, her wife Portia de Rossi, and Ryan Seacrest also attended the ceremony.

The new season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show premieres next Monday.

Valerie Bertinelli Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

FilmMagic/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Actress Valerie Bertinelli on Wednesday received the 2,476th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  She was joined at the ceremony by her Hot in Cleveland co-stars -- Betty White, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick -- and her son, Wolfgang Van Halen.

The 52-year-old former One Day at a Time star was thrilled to be honored with a marker installed across the street from Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

She told the crowd, "I cannot believe at this stage in my life this is happening to me, and I get to have the best job on television."

White joked that Bertinelli's star was more significant than her own, which she earned in 1988.

She said, "I got a star because I was on television five and a half hours a day, six days a week, and they thought I should have something, so they put a star down.  But at that point, it was free.  But this is a real honor, because someone has to sponsor it and it costs bucks."

Bertinelli and White's sitcom returns to TV Land for its fourth season on Nov. 28.

'Simpsons' Creator Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- The creator of the long-running Fox animated series The Simpsons received the 2,459th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday.

Matt Groening told the crowd that before his show premiered in 1989, at least one Fox executive was skeptical that it would be a success.  He recalled the executive had an issue with brainy Lisa Simpson and complained, "No network TV show can possibly succeed that has an eight-year-old girl saying the word 'ennui.'"

Hank Azaria, who voices Moe the bartender and Apu, among other Simpsons characters, spoke at the ceremony.

He joked, "Twenty-five years ago when we were first doing this, I was Hank the bartender. And now I'm Moe the bartender, much better off, much easier job, much easier on the back."

The Simpsons will air its 500th episode on Sunday.
