James Spader: No Filling Steve Carell's Shoes on 'The Office'

Charles Eshelman/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- The Office isn't seeking an outside hire to replace Steve Carell.

Cast member James Spader says the NBC series won't bring in someone new to replace Carell's Michael Scott, the former manager of paper company Dunder Mifflin's Scranton, Pa., branch.

"They didn't just want to bring in a new Michael Scott,” Spader said. “There's not an attempt to fill those shoes."

Spader, who guest starred in the season finale that aired in May, joins the cast as an executive of Dunder Mifflin's parent company, Sabre.

Tina Fey, Your Boss?! American Workers Say 'Yes, Please'

All Goldstein/NBC Universal(NEW YORK) -- American workers don’t have a say in who their boss is, but if given the opportunity, a majority would pick Tina Fey’s character, Liz Lemon, from NBC’s 30 Rock.

Conan O’Brien was the second most popular choice for a fun boss, followed by actor Steve Carell’s character, Michael Scott, the boss on NBC’s The Office.

The findings come from a survey of 1,000 people commissioned by the Nestle food company.
