(NEW YORK) -- Lady Gaga's album The Fame Monster wasn't 2010's best-selling album in the United States, but when you look at the entire world, it's a different story.
MTV reports that according to the website Media Traffic, which compiles worldwide album sales into one huge global chart, The Fame Monster was indeed the world's best-selling album of 2010, selling 5.8 million copies overall in the past year.
Gaga responded to the good news on Twitter by writing, "The Fame Monster was named the best-selling album of 2010! I'm so excited for the future. Believe + work hard, you will achieve your dreams."
Other top-selling albums globally in 2010 included discs by Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Michael Buble, Sade, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry and Susan Boyle.
