'Glee Project' Winners Discuss Upcoming Roles on 'Glee'

Damian McGinty (l) and Samuel Larsen (r) winners of The Glee Project. (Matt Sersion/Oxygen)(LOS ANGELES) -- On Sunday night, Damian McGinty earned an opportunity that most Gleeks can only dream of. The 18-year-old from Northern Ireland was a co-winner of the Oxygen reality series The Glee Project and as such was awarded a seven-episode arc on the upcoming season of the Fox hit.

He's not exactly sure what role he'll play, but, he says, "I'm pretty sure I will be a foreign exchange student....[Glee creator] Ryan [Murphy] mentioned to me I'm going to come in being very lonely, being very vulnerable, but, you know, growing."

McGinty says Murphy has suggested that his character could end up leading the glee club.

McGinty's goals for his character include performing a Michael Buble song. Pointing out that Buble's music has never been featured on Glee, he says, "I feel like that's definitely right up my alley, and I would love to do that kind of thing, and I would be honored to be the person to bring that to the show."

McGinty was one of two winners on The Glee Project -- Samuel Larsen will also appear in seven episodes of Glee.

Larsen isn't sure about his role, either, but he'd like to see an indie rocker-type character on the show. He says, "I personally, as a fan of the show, want that guy there, whether it's me or not." Among the songs he'd like to sing on Glee: "Tighten Up" by the rock band The Black Keys.

The Glee Project finalists Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell will guest star in two episodes.
