(NEW YORK) -- MTV's hit reality series Jersey Shore broke another viewing record this week.
The show, which depicts the drama and debauchery of a group of young people vacationing in Seaside Heights, N.J., had a reported 8.9 million viewers Thursday. Jersey Shore's ratings had almost twice as many 18- to 49-year-old viewers as CBS's successful show The Mentalist, according to The New York Times. The 18-49 age bracket is considered valuable to advertisers.
The Mentalist actually attracted 5.9 million more people than Jersey Shore Thursday night, making MTV's achievement all the more remarkable.
These most recent numbers break Jersey Shore's record set last week by 300,000 people.
