"Oogieloves" Sets Dubious Record; "The Possession" Debuts on Top

Diyah Pera/Lionsgate(NEW YORK) -- The Oogieloves' BIG adventure turned out to be a BIG flop.

The interactive kids film The Oogieloves in the BIG Balloon Adventure set a dubious record over the weekend by earning just $448,000 from Friday through Sunday in more than 2,000 theaters.  It averaged $207 per theater -- the worst performance by a wide release in box office history.

If you include Labor Day, Oogieloves collected a shade over $601,000.  The film opened last Wednesday, along with the Prohibition-era drama Lawless.

The horror film The Possession owned the top spot at the box office, with a $21.3 million debut.

Lawless bowed in the runner-up spot, with $13 million.

After two weekends on top, The Expendables 2 fell to third place, raising $11.2 million.
