Padma Lakshmi Strips Down, Tells All for Playboy

David Moir/Bravo(NEW YORK) -- Padma Lakshmi is pretty much perfect. In the December issue of Playboy, the “Top Chef” host and former model strips down to a lace negligee and reveals that she doesn’t like dudes who shower her with gifts, thinks pretty people are boring, and works her butt off after every season of “Top Chef.” Some highlights from the interview:

On “Top Chef” derailing her diet: “My digestive tract is ironclad and can really take a beating. Having been a model for 15 years, I also know a thing or two about how to dress if I’ve put on a few pounds. And I usually gain between 10 and 15 pounds over six weeks each season. Then I spend 12 weeks working it off.”

On the type of guys she likes: “A lot of men get frustrated with me, actually because I am like a guy. Honestly, I’m like a truck driver trapped in this body. I don’t want to be your best friend. I don’t expect you to give me a birthday card or send me flowers. I don’t need fancy trips. You could take me across the street. Don’t get me wrong. That stuff’s nice, but I am a physical and sensual person. I love to be held. I love massages. I’m just not a Hallmark kind of gal.”

On her three-year marriage to Salman Rushdie:
“Now there is somebody who has great wit and is a great flirt. I don’t regret a day I spent with Salman, but it was tiring. He has a big life, and it only got bigger while we were together. I’m happy to have stood next to him holding his hand, but we were in very different parts of our lives.”

On beauty being boring: “Have you ever met a girl and she’s really pretty, but then you talk to her for 15 minutes, and she’s not that pretty anymore? She’s kind of boring. Or else you meet a girl who’s okay-looking but makes you laugh and says something saucy. Suddenly her beauty shines through.”

On wearing three sports bras: “A regular bra doesn’t work alone, and sometimes I need more support, so I’ll put a sports bra over it. And I like to wear a runner’s tank top over that. It’s my cross to bear, I guess. Sometimes I think I’m one of the last women with real boobs.”

"Top Chef" Judge Settles Custody Battle

Larry Busacca/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Top Chef star and author Padma Lakshmi has apparently reached a settlement in a nasty custody battle with Adam Dell, the father of their 2-year-old daughter Krishna, the New York Post reports.

Dell -- the brother of Dell Computer founder Michael Dell -- sued Lakshmi last year, claiming his name was deliberately left off the birth certificate after he successfully proved paternity. According to the Post, Lakshmi had told him she "hoped" her late partner, billionaire Teddy Forstmann, was actually the child’s biological father -- and taught Krishna to call Forstmann "papa."

A source told the Post the dispute was settled out of court, and Dell didn't get the full visitation and custody rights he was seeking, but they came to a compromise that satisfied both parties. The baby will now be known as Krishna Thea Lakshmi-Dell.

'Top Chef' Star's Billionaire Boyfriend Dies

Larry Busacca/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Ted Forstmann, Padma Lakshmi’s boyfriend, died Monday. He was 71.

The Top Chef host, 41, had been quietly dating Forstmann, the billionaire head of IMG Worldwide, for years. According to the U.K.’s Daily Mail, when Lakshmi had a falling out with the father of her young daughter, Forstmann stepped in to fill his shoes. The businessman had previously been romantically linked to Elizabeth Hurley and Princess Diana.

Forstmann was incredibly accomplished in his own right. A former investment banker, he became the CEO of IMG, the world’s largest sports talent agency, in 2004. Under his leadership, IMG returned more than $15 billion to investors.

Forstmann was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this year. He pledged to fight the disease, telling the New York Times, “This is not how I want to end. It’s a bend in the road for me.”

'Top Chef' Star in Custody Battle

Photo Courtesy - Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- The father of Top Chef star Padma Lakshmi's 11-month-old daughter has reportedly filed legal papers to obtain custody of the child.

TMZ reports Adam Dell, the brother of computer billionaire Michael Dell, currently has visitation rights that give him nine days a month with his daughter, Krishna Thea Lakshmi.

The report says Adam and Padma had been discussing a different custody arrangement when talks fell apart.  Sources close to Padma tell TMZ she wants nothing to do with Adam other than raising their baby and feels the legal move is his way of forcing a relationship.
