(VIENNA) -- British singer George Michael has been admitted to a hospital in Vienna with pneumonia, according to his publicist.
Connie Filippello said the former Wham! singer and solo hit-maker has been “diagnosed with pneumonia and he is currently receiving treatment.”
Michael, whose real name is Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotos, had upcoming concert dates in Vienna, Strasbourg, France, and Cardiff, Wales. All of the shows have been postponed.
The 48-year-old songwriter is being treated at Vienna’s AKH hospital, Austrian state broadcaster reported.
Having garnered seven number one singles in the UK and eight number one Billboard hits, including 1987′s “Faith” and his 1991 duet with Elton John of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” Michael was announced in October as one of the final nominees for the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. He has sold over 100 million records worldwide.
