Adele's Rep Denies Report that She's Speaking Through an App

Kevin Mazur/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Since Adele had surgery on her vocal cords, she's been on voice rest.  But her rep is denying a report in the British tabloid The Sun that claims she's been communicating through a voice-generating app that produces a "Stephen Hawking-style voice."

A "source" told the paper that Adele downloaded the app, which reads out messages that you type into your phone, and has been "using [it] to buy coffee at Starbucks and to order cabs."  The source claimed, "It is far easier to communicate using it rather than writing everything down on paper and showing people."  But when asked to comment on the story, Adele's rep told ABC News Radio, "None of it is true."

Keith Urban to Undergo Throat Surgery

Rick Diamond/Getty Images(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Country star Keith Urban announced Thursday that he will undergo throat surgery later this month to remove a polyp from his vocal cords, forcing the singer to postpone longer performances until after he fully recuperates.

“The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of recuperation that will require the postponement of the ‘All For The Hall’ benefit concert,” an announcement on the Aussie singer’s website said.

The concert, which was scheduled for Jan. 18 in Nashville, was set to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Fans immediately took to Twitter to send Urban, who is married to actress Nicole Kidman, their well-wishes.

“Ur in my prayers for a smooth surgery and speedy recovery!!! We need you out there rocking the stage!!” said fan Chelsea Treser.

“I hope your surgery will go well,” tweeted another fan, Ali Dorn.

One fan pointed out how vocal cord industries seem to be the scourge of the music industry at the moment.

“And so everything happens in 3s. Mayer, Adele, Urban. Yikes!” wrote Amy Pfister.

Singer John Mayer had surgery last month to remove an inflamed nodule from his vocal cords, while songstress Adele recently revealed she is suffering from a vocal cord hemmhorage and will have to undergo surgery.

The British singer wrote she was “heartbroken and worried” by the issues she had been having with her voice, causing her to cancel the remainder of her commitments for the year.

“[S]inging is literally my life, its my hobbie, my love, my freedom and now my job,” she wrote. “I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or i risk damaging my voice forever.”

A call to Urban’s representative, Paul Freundlich, was not immediately returned.
