Revealed: How Michelle Obama’s DNC Nail Polish Was Made

(LOS ANGELES, Calif.) -- Michelle Obama’s trendsetting DNC manicure was more than a year in the making. Celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik (his clients include Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, and Jennifer Lopez) created the color with Artistic Nail Design “a little more than a year ago,” and said the process took a lot of trial and error.

“I was looking at what was popular and kind of where we were going in color,” he told at HBO’s pre-Emmys Luxury Lounge, where he and his L’Oreal team polished the nails of Emmy nominees and guests. “At the time, the gray-beiges and taupey-beiges were getting really popular but a lot of my clients and their skin tones were more cool, more lavender. So I put a little purple in with the grayish beige to create that tone. It also has a little silver in it to give it some luminosity.”

Bachik didn’t know the first lady wore his color, Vogue, until days after her Sept. 4 speech, when the Wall Street Journal revealed the name of her nail polish.

“I was working, I missed the speech, and it wasn’t until my friends told me ‘Hey, Michelle’s wearing your color,’” he said. “It looked gorgeous on her. She went with something more modern and on trend, and I think that’s why everyone jumped on it and thought it was a great choice.”

But if he could pick a color for her election day manicure, he’d go with something more traditional: a jewel toned red called The Queen’s Might, part of L’Oreal’s new collection with “Project Runway.”

“It gives you that kind of classic feel,” he said. “But at the same time, by being on trend, it shows that she’s relating to what’s happening now.”

Emma Stone Has History of Panic Attacks

Emma Stone stars in the upcoming "The Amazing Spiderman." Columbia Pictures(NEW YORK) -- She may have played plucky, outgoing heroines in The Help and Crazy, Stupid Love, but Emma Stone recently revealed that as a child she was something of a recluse because of panic attacks.

Stone, who covers the July issue of Vogue, tells the magazine that she began having panic attacks at age 8.

“I was just kind of immobilized by it,” she explains. “I didn’t want to go to my friends’ houses or hang out with anybody, and nobody really understood.”

Her parents found her a therapist, but it was getting involved in improv comedy at age 11 that changed her life forever.

“It gave me a sense of purpose. I wanted to make people laugh,” she explains. “Comedy was my sport. It taught me how to roll with the punches. Failure is the exact same as success when it comes to comedy because it just keeps coming. It never stops.”

By age 14, Stone had created a PowerPoint presentation to convince her parents to let her drop out of high school and start auditioning for roles. It worked.

Now, when Stone, 23, gets the occasional panic attack, she tries to channel her feelings. Recently, while filming of The Amazing Spider-Man, she put her focus into baking.

“I think I felt really out of control of my surroundings,” she tells Vogue. “I was just baking all the time. It seemed like it made me feel, if I put these in, I’ll know what the outcome is.”

Though she didn’t talk about her relationship with Spider-Man co-star and now-boyfriend Andrew Garfield, 28, she had plenty of good things to say about his acting.

“As an actor, I learned a lot from working with Andrew, in terms of his approach and the way he works,” she says of The Social Network star. “He’s incredibly giving.”

Rihanna Talks Chris Brown, Love & Her Body in April Issue of 'Vogue'

Island Def Jam(NEW YORK) -- In the April issue of Vogue magazine, cover girl Rihanna opens up about her life after her assault by Chris Brown.

According to published reports, she tells the magazine that the 2009 incident gave her "a lot of liberation," explaining, "I was able to tap into the personal part of my music...I started to tell stories through my music that were actually my stories.  My album before that...there was still an innocence to me. And what that time in my life did was kind of wake people up: [my life] is not all a bed of roses."

Rihanna also says that now that she's split with L.A. Dodger Matt Kemp, she's taking a break from romance.  According to published reports, she tells Vogue, "I just kind of shut down from that. I just let it go. I don't ever want to have to depend on a relationship. I think it's a really special thing to find love. It's beautiful. Nothing can match it. But I want to make sure that I find other things in life that I love"

In addition, Rihanna discusses what she feels is a betrayal by her father, Ronald Fenty, with whom she's angry for talking to the tabloids after the 2009 assault.  She tells Vogue, "He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing...he went straight to the press and got a check."

After the "edgy, aggressive" look and feel of her last album, Rated R, Rihanna is showing off a much sexier image these days with her new album, Loud.  And she says she's finally learned to love her body.  She tells Vogue, "Over the holidays...I realized that I actually like my body, even if it's not perfect according to the book. I just feel sexy.  For the first time, I don't want to get rid of the curves. I just want to tone it up."

Rihanna shows off her curves in an exclusive behind-the-scenes cover shoot video posted on Vogue's website.
