Will Smith on Fame and Family

Photo by Jun Sato/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Will Smith and his son Jaden co-star in the upcoming sci-fi drama After Earth, their second on-screen pairing after 2006's Pursuit of Happyness.

Fourteen-year-old Jaden and his younger sister Willow are following in their parents' footsteps with careers in music and movies, and the father-son duo spoke to New York magazine about their relationship on and off the big screen. Jaden and Willow's mom is actress Jada Pinkett Smith.

When asked if Jaden could have been a dentist instead of an actor, Will Smith replies, "It may seem like we have pushed our kids into the business, but that is absolutely insane. I would never, ever, push somebody to have their face on a poster that’s going be everywhere in the world. He is making a choice from the informed."

The elder Smith adds, "It's less scary to me than if he wanted to be a dentist in that I couldn’t help with what he'd chosen. I have relationships with some of the biggest filmmakers and actors and producers on Earth. So I can be a huge help."

Will notes that his daughter Willow chose to sing and then she changed her mind and he respected her decision. He explained, "At the peak of 'Whip My Hair,' she's like, 'Daddy, I'm done.' I was like, 'Wow, wow, wow. No, baby, I got Annie -- the upcoming movie remake, you know. It’ll be New York, you'll be with Beyoncé. You can bring your friends.' And she said, 'Daddy, I got a better idea. How about I just be 12?' At the end of the day, it has to be their choice."

Will was also asked about his family's similarities to the Kardashian family, who have essentially treated their fame as the family business. He responded, "We are trying to put great things into the world, we’re trying to have fun, and we're trying to become the greatest versions of ourselves in the process of doing things we love. So the idea of fame or exploitation or orchestrating the media is sometimes even less than desirable for us."

After Earth opens nationwide May 31.

Will, Jaden Smith Quash Emancipation Rumors

Photo by Jun Sato/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Doesn’t look like Jaden Smith will be separating from his parents anytime soon.

The 14-year-old actor and his famous father, Will Smith, set the record straight on rumors that Jaden was seeking to become an emancipated minor during an appearance Wednesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“See, here’s the thing that you need to understand: I’m not going anywhere,” Jaden told DeGeneres when she asked him about the rumors. “The thing that people don’t get is everything at this house is free! So I can get anything and everything at his house, so I’m going to be there 20, 30 more years.”

“He says as soon as I have a movie that’s bigger than one of his movies, I can get my own house,” the Karate Kid star joked.

Father Will Smith joined in the laughs.

“I baby boy, he’s never leaving me, ever,” he joked.

Rumors that Jaden was planning to get a place of his own by his 15th birthday began swirling after Will Smith was quoted in the U.K. publication The Sun, saying, “I know if we do this, he can be an emancipated minor, because he really wants to have his own place.”

The elder Smith told DeGeneres it was a joke taken out of context, adding, “No emancipation for the Smith kids.”

Father and son are starring in M. Night Shyamalan upcoming sci-fi thriller, After Earth.

Beyonce, Jay-Z Top "Forbes'" List of World's Highest-Paid Celeb Couples

Al Bello/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Beyonce and Jay-Z are movin' on up.  When Forbes released its list of the world's highest-paid celebrity couples last year, the hip-hop power couple was the runner-up for the top spot.  This year, they've climbed to number one.

The magazine points out that though Beyonce put the brakes on her whirlwind schedule in 2011 to welcome into the world her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, the mommy still raked in dough during her maternity leave.  According to Forbes, Beyonce pulled in large sums from her old hits, and that's on top of the money she's made from her platinum-selling album 4.

Between May 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012, Forbes reports that Beyonce earned $40 million, thanks in part to her non-musical ventures, including a fragrance collection.

As for Jay-Z, he made millions as part of The Throne, which sold out arenas on a global tour.  He stacked slightly less dough than his wife, with Jay earning $38 million between May 1, 2011 and May 1, 2012.  Some of his money came from non-musical enterprises, including cosmetics company Carol's Daughter and ad firm Translation, according to Forbes.

Together, Beyonce and Jay-Z collected an annual income of $78 million.

Second on Forbes' list is supermodel Gisele Bundchen and her quarterback-husband, Tom Brady.  Combined, the duo pulled in $72 million between May of 2011 and May of 2012, thanks to her modeling work, his NFL salary, and their respective endorsement deals.

David and Victoria Beckham rank third with $54 million, ahead of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who raked in $45 million, and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, who collected $40 million.

Jay-Z Handling Music for Remake of "Annie" -- More than a year after it was formally announced, it's been confirmed that Willow Smith will be starring in a modern-day remake of Annie, with her Roc Nation boss Jay-Z overseeing the music.

That's according to the remake's screenwriter Emma Thompson who tells the U.K. Press Association, she's "so excited" that Jay will be taking control of the film's score.  Hova is no stranger to the Broadway musical Annie.  He sampled music from the production for his 1998 smash, "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)."

Willow's dad, Will Smith is also in on the Annie project.  He and Thompson worked together on I Am Legend, and they star in the new movie Men in Black 3.

Will Smith Smacks Amorous Reporter

ABC News(NEW YORK) -- A Ukrainian reporter who tried to kiss Will Smith on the mouth was instead met with a backhanded slap to the face.

Russia’s Life TV caught overly affectionate reporter Vitalii Sediuk and the actor on camera at the Moscow premiere of Smith’s new film, “Men In Black 3.”

After a hug and a pat on the back, Sediuk leaned in toward Smith’s face and started going for kisses, prompting the star to push him away.

“He tried to kiss me on my mouth,” Smith said on camera seconds after the incident. “This joker, he’s lucky I didn’t sucker punch him.”

It turns out kissing interview subjects is part of Sediuk’s schtick and he is known as quite the prankster, TMZ reported.

Before the kiss seen around the world, the reporter, who posed as a fan, was known for presenting Madonna with a bouquet of hydrangeas. She graciously accepted the flowers despite the fact she had said in previous interviews she did not like them.

Moments later, the singer was caught on an open microphone at a press conference telling the person next to her she “absolutely loathes hydrangeas.” The video went viral and garnered millions of views.

Jada Pinkett Smith Shoots Down ‘Ridiculous’ Marriage Rumors

In a new interview with the French magazine Gala, the 40-year-old actress lamented, “Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope. This year, unluckily, it’s us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it.”

Asked about the rumor that the couple no longer live under the same roof, Jada insisted, “That’s ridiculous. We’ve always lived together.”

“These rumors are completely untrue,” she continued. “I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does. … But our lifestyle hasn’t changed. Before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects.”

Jada added, “Will and I know the truth. We’re waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over.”

Jada, 40, and Will, 43, have been married since 1997. Together, they raise three children, Jaden, 13, Willow, 11, and Trey, 18, from a previous marriage.

Lady Gaga an Alien in 'Men in Black 3'?

PRNewsFoto/Barneys New York Credit: David Swanson, Terry Richardson Photography(LOS ANGELES) -- A quote from Will Smith to a Brazilian website makes it pretty plain that Lady Gaga will be following in the footsteps of the late Michael Jackson in an out of this world cameo in a Men in Black film.

Smith reportedly said during a promotion appearance in Rio that Gaga's going to play one of those aliens among us in Men in Black 3.

"We have a couple of celebrity cameos, but I think I can not reveal who they are," Smith was quoted as saying by  "We must keep as a surprise that Lady Gaga appears."

Previously, Jackson, Al Roker, Martha Stewart and a host of other celebs, were glimpsed as aliens-in-disguise thanks to cameos in the sci-fi comedy series.

Men in Black 3, starring Smith, Josh Brolin, Emma Thompson and Tommy Lee Jones, opens on May 25.

Will Smith's 'Fresh Prince' Mom Thinks He's a Jerk

Jun Sato/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Last week, Will Smith posted onto Facebook a photo of his reunion with many of his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-stars at a charity event. Conspicuous by her absence in the picture was the first actress to play his mother on the show, Janet Hubert. It seems she doesn't care much for Smith.

After she was booted from the 1990s sitcom about halfway through its run, Hubert suggested that Smith was to blame for her firing. She apparently hasn’t backed off that stance, since she tells, "He is still an egomaniac and has not grown up. This constant reunion thing will never ever happen in my lifetime unless there is an apology, which he doesn't know the word." She says, "There will never be a I will never do anything with an a****** like Will Smith."

VIDEO: 'Men in Black 3' Trailer Jumps Online

C Flanigan/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- After much delay --- blamed on a ballooning budget and script re-writes --- Sony has unveiled a first trailer for Men in Black 3.

Smith's character J finds there are secrets even he doesn't have access to, and eventually he has to jump back in time to solve the mystery of his partner's death.

Emma Thompson also stars as an MIB operative, as does James Brolin, who plays the younger version of Jones' Agent K.

Men in Black 3 opens May 25, 2012.

Did Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith Set Up a Photo Opp?

Joe Scarnici/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) -- Do you think the widely circulated photos of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith holding hands and smiling while strolling in Malibu, California on Wednesday were staged?  That's the theory being floated by In Touch Weekly.

A source told the magazine, "Jada set up pictures with Will to cover up rumors of any marriage problems.  They're worried about what divorcing will do to them."

The insider added, "They haven't even been living together, and now all of a sudden, they're out kissing?"

In Touch claims Will had a sneaking suspicion that something was going on between Jada and her Hawthorne co-star Marc Anthony, which led to a heated argument earlier this month. The Hawthorne camp apparently denied the rumors.
