L.A. Reid to Step Down as "X Factor" Judge

Nino Munoz / FOX(LOS ANGELES) -- Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid will not be returning for season three of The X Factor, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The reality TV judge is quitting the Fox talent show to focus more on developing new and signed musicians.

Reid says, “I have the utmost respect for Simon Cowell. He is the very best, and I have had the opportunity to learn so much from working with him."

"Working with him on X Factor has been a once-in-a-lifetime experience," he continued. "I’m honored to have sat on a panel with such incredible talent.”

The music executive has served as an X Factor judge since the show’s inception, and is just one week away from mentoring season-two contestant Tate Stevens in the finale.  At the start of the season, Reid made it clear that he wasn’t happy being given the Over 25’s group to look after.

Reid says that he will miss the show but is looking forward to “getting back to my core business and the responsibility of running Epic Records.”

It is unclear if Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will be returning for season three of The X Factor, which will air in 2013.

Suspicious Letter Sent to Khloe Kardashian Odom at "X Factor" Studio

Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- The FBI is investigating a suspicious letter sent to Khloe Kardashian Odom at the CBS Studio set in Los Angeles where the Fox singing competition The X Factor is staged, according to TMZ.com.

The letter, received by the studio on Tuesday, contained a white powder that was ultimately deemed harmless. The contents of the letter itself are unknown.

Kardashian Odom, who made her debut as a new X Factor co-host earlier this month, vaguely tweeted Tuesday afternoon, "Awkward."

The same complex received similar suspicious packages during both of Bristol Palin's stints on ABC's Dancing with the Stars, which is also produced there.

"X Factor" Adds Britney Spears, Demi Lovato

Max Morse/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- After weeks of rumor and speculation, it's official: Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will be joining Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid on the X Factor judging panel when the show returns this fall.

"I'm absolutely delighted Britney and Demi are joining us,” Cowell said in a statement.  "Britney remains one of the biggest stars in the world, she's talented, fascinating and I believe she knows exactly how to spot the X Factor."

As for Lovato, Cowell says, "[She's] had an amazing career in music, TV and film for someone her age.  She's young, confident, and enthusiastic.  I think it’s really important that she speaks to our younger audience.  The new panel will be dynamic and will work really well with the changes we are making to the show.”

In a statement, Spears said, "I couldn't be more excited to join the X Factor judging panel.  I'm a huge fan of the show and now I get to be a part of the action.  Simon and L.A. better watch out!”  And Demi added, "To be able to spend each week with Simon, L.A. and Britney watching the best that America has to offer is truly a dream come true."

Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus in the Mix to Judge "X Factor?"

Fox(LOS ANGELES) -- Though it hasn’t been confirmed, it looks likely that Britney Spears will be joining the X Factor judging panel, but there’s still one spot up for grabs. Now, reports claim that it could be filled by Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus.

The Hollywood Reporter said Lovato is in “final negotiations” to fill the vacant judges’ slot on the Fox singing competition, which currently features Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and -- possibly -- Spears. The trade publication said the show wanted to hire a brunette. Meanwhile, a source told Celebuzz.com that “there have been talks with Miley” about joining the show. Others on the shortlist reportedly include “Black Eyed Peas” front woman Fergie and Avril Lavigne.

As for Spears, a source told Celebuzz, “Britney’s deal is not done, it’s close, but we are not that far ahead to be making a formal announcement.” It’s rumored that Spears will cash a $15 million paycheck for her trouble.

Report: Britney Spears Signing $15 Million 'X Factor' Deal

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- According to TMZ, Britney Spears has struck a deal with the producers of The X Factor that will pay the singer 15 million dollars to join the show as a judge next season.

The gossip site says "the fine points" of the deal are still being worked out, but the broad strokes are done. If the contracts are finalized, they will then have to be approved by Britney's father Jamie, who is her conservator, and lawyers for the conservatorship.  At that point, the judge overseeing the conservatorship will have to approve.

Sources tell the website it's a "virtual certainty" that all involved will sign off on the deal.

Show creator and executive producer Simon Cowell told TMZ on Tuesday he'd be thrilled if Britney came aboard, saying, "I would love to have her on the show. I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to."  Cowell said the show may make an announcement within the week.

Britney will fill one of two vacant seats formally occupied by Nicole Scherzinger, who reportedly earned $1.5 million as an X Factor judge, and Paula Abdul, who reportedly earned $2.5 million.

Beyonce Being Offered Major Dough for X Factor Gig?

Kristian Dowling/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Word is that new mom Beyonce is being offered a whopping $100 million per year if she signs on for a five-year stint judging X Factor. That's according to MediaTakeout, which claims to have gotten the info from the same person who revealed that Jennifer Lopez was joining American Idol.

X Factor creator Simon Cowell is reportedly offering Beyonce big bucks to join the panel of judges in hopes of giving the show a much-needed boost in ratings.

Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were booted from their positions as judges, and Mariah Carey has been mentioned as a possible replacement for one of them next season.

Beyonce was featured on the British version of X Factor back in 2008 when she appeared as a guest singer and mentor.

Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger Depart 'The X Factor'; Paula Abdul Out Too?

Ray Mickshaw/FOX via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Big changes at The X Factor.  Fox has confirmed to ABC News Radio that both host Steve Jones and judge Nicole Scherzinger will not be returning to the music talent show for a second season.
Jone broke the news of his departure on Twitter, writing, "I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I've had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show."  Jones had been criticized for his “wooden” delivery on the show.

In an interview with The Mirror on Monday, show creator Simon Cowell said of Jones, “He got a lot of stick. I don’t think he did a bad job but, like America’s Got Talent, there is a Brit limit on the show.”

A source tells E! that Scherzinger decided not to return to the show because she "wants to focus on her music career.”  The source said Cowell has "given her his blessing."

Paula Abdul may also be gone from the show. E! News reports Fox has informed Abdul that she will not be retained. A source says, "Simon wants to take the show in a different direction." If true, only Simon and L.A. Reid would return to the judges' panel.

Who Is ‘X Factor’ Winner Melanie Amaro?

Ray Mickshaw/FOX via Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Melanie Amaro, the newly-crowned winner of “The X-Factor,” is poised to be a big star, so you might as well get to know her sooner rather than later.

Here are some facts you may not have known about the songstress:

She plans to spend her $5 million prize in an unconventional way.

Amaro told People magazine that her dream purchases would be a foot massage, a house for her mom, and a lifetime supply of chicken. "Life will change a lot,” she said.

“The most I have ever had before was $200, if I was lucky.” Of course, the majority of her money will go towards her debut record with Sony.

She’s a very spiritual individual.

The 19-year-old, British Virgin Islands native is a devout Christian. She loves gospel music, and when she was named winner of “The X Factor,” pretty much all she could exclaim was, “God is good!”

Amaro is also a Twitter fiend.

With more than 179,000 followers, Amaro’s got a full-fledged digital platform, and she uses it.

“Thank you all sooo much for all your love and votes and dedication,” she tweeted this morning, “i really appreciate u all, my dream has come true #IHaveTheBestFans.”

Parents Group Filing Complaint over Pants-Dropping 'X Factor' Contestant

George Doyle/Stockbyte/Thinkstock(LOS ANGELES) -- Paula Abdul wasn't the only one who felt queasy over the male X Factor contestant who pulled his pants down on last week's series premiere.

The Parents Television Council says it is filing a formal broadcast indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission over the segment, in which Geo Godley dropped trou, causing Abdul to leave the set, audibly gagging.  The show censored Godley's midsection, so it wasn't made clear whether or not his genitals were exposed.

Regardless, the PTC argued in a statement, "If Godley performed his act in public, he would have been arrested.  But if he performs it in front of a Fox camera, his act is beamed via the public airwaves into every home in the nation."

It says X Factor producers chose to air the segment despite knowing "full well that children would be watching."

Godley himself has told E! News that he was wearing a G-string at the time and was not naked from the waist down.

Nicki Minaj In, Mariah Carey Out as 'X Factor' Judge?

Jason LaVeris/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- Though Simon Cowell has stated publicly that he wants Mariah Carey to be one of the judges on his new show X Factor, it appears as though he's not going to get what he wants.  Essence.com reports it has confirmed that Mariah has turned down the offer because she's too busy preparing for the arrival of her twins with hubby Nick Cannon, and working on music for a new album.

However, one of Mariah's former duet partners may be ready to step into the role.  The New York Post reports that Nicki Minaj is in talks to join the panel on X Factor.  A source told the paper, "Simon thinks Nicki is fantastic.  She's sassy, she looks great and she has bags of personality," adding that the show "is aiming for a younger audience."  Nicki joined Mariah for the 2010 remix of her song Up Out My Face.

Simon Cowell told MTV News that his X Factor judging panel "will be the best so far, I promise you," adding, "If I get the people I want, I'm really happy."  Stay tuned.
