"The Heat," "White House Down" Open Friday

Creatas/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Here's a look at the new movies opening nationwide on Friday:

-- The Heat: Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy star as an FBI special agent and profane Boston cop, respectively, who form an unlikely duo as they attempt to take down a drug lord.  The comedy was helmed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig.  Rated R.

-- White House Down: Channing Tatum is a cop who comes to the aid of the U.S. president, played by Jamie Foxx, after the White House is invaded by a paramilitary group.  Maggie Gyllenhaal, Richard Jenkins and James Woods also star in the film, which was helmed by Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012 director Roland Emmerich.  Rated PG-13.
