(LOS ANGELES) -- Tom Cruise is famous for doing his own stunts, like hanging from the world's tallest building in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, but his idea for a triple premiere for his new movie Edge of Tomorrow exhausted even him.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night, Cruise explained last week's three-country event -- a 7 a.m. screening in London, a 9 a.m. showing in Paris, then an evening event in New York City -- sounded better before he actually did it.
"Who comes to a movie at 7 a.m.?" Kimmel asked incredulously.
"I didn't know if anyone was going to show up," said Cruise, who admitted he was feeling the effects at the final event. "By the time I got to New York...I'm not responsible for what I said in that last premiere. I don't know what I said -- my lips were numb, and I thought, 'I'm talking -- am I talking?'"
In Edge of Tomorrow, Cruise plays a soldier who combats an alien invasion alongside a special forces warrior, played by Emily Blunt -- as he relives the same day over and over. The movie opens in theaters Friday.
