Tom Hanks' Jury Duty Saga Takes a Twist

JOHANNES EISELE/AFP/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- There was some unexpected courtroom drama as Tom Hanks continued to serve jury duty in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

According to TMZ, a female member of the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office approached Hanks during a break and thanked him for serving on the jury.  A prosecutor disclosed that conversation to the court, after which the defense requested a hearing, alleging jury tampering.

Long story short, it led to the defendant reaching a plea deal in his domestic violence case.  He pleaded no contest to disturbing the peace and was fined $150.

The Oscar-winning actor had been on the jury for a couple of days.
