Tony Awards Pulls In Solid Ratings Despite "Game of Thrones" Finale

Sunday's CBS telecast, honoring the best of Broadway, pulled in 7.24 million viewers, a significant increase from the record-low six million who watched the 2012 ceremony.

The show was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris.  The big winner was the musical Kinky Boots, which claimed six awards.

The Tonys had to contend with the NBA Finals on ABC, plus a new episode of Mad Men on AMC and the third-season finale of Game of Thrones on HBO.  The latter attracted an audience of 5.4 million viewers, according to Deadline.com.  And TorrentFreak reports that the episode was downloaded by more than one million people via BitTorrent in the 24-hour period after it originally aired, a record.

The Game of Thrones finale was shared by more than 170,000 people simultaneously on BitTorrent, another record.
