(NEW YORK) -- Will Smith says he learned a lot from his Fresh Prince of Bel-Air co-star James Avery, who passed away last Tuesday.
Smith, who played the nephew of Avery's character, Philip Banks, on the hit 1990s sitcom, has posted on Facebook an undated photo of a mini-cast reunion. It features Avery, Smith, and the actors who played Smith's cousins: Alfonso Ribeiro, Karyn Parsons and Tatyana Ali.
Smith notes, "This photo was the last time we were together."
Smith also writes, "Some of my greatest lessons in Acting, Living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery. Every young man needs an Uncle Phil. Rest in Peace."
Last week, Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, offered her own kind words regarding Avery on Facebook.
Avery died from complications from open heart surgery. He was 68.
