The Bellamy Brothers Accuse Britney Spears of Ripping Off Their Single

Photo Courtesy - Jive Records(NEW YORK) -- Country-pop duo The Bellamy Brothers are accusing Britney Spears of ripping off one of their other hits -- 1979's "If I Said You Had a Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me."

Spears' new single is called "Hold it Against Me," and in a statement, David Bellamy said, "If you listen to the lyrics...you'll find some major similarities."  The chorus of Spears' single goes, "If I said I want your body now/Would you hold it against me."

David added that he and his bandmate and brother Howard "have no personal beef with Britney," calling her "a talented gal."  But, he added, "Professionally, well, in all honesty, we feel completely ripped off.  Where's the originality?"  Howard chimed in, "Hey, Britney -- if I said you ripped off our song, would you hold it against me?  Thanks."

It's worth noting that Spears didn't actually write "Hold it Against Me" -- it was written by four other people, including producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin.

Fox Announces 'American Idol' Changes; Judges Meet the Media

Photo Courtesy - PRNewsFoto/Zumobi(PASADENA, Calif.) -- Viewers will notice a few changes to American Idol once it debuts its 10th season next week.

At a Television Critics Association meeting on Tuesday in Pasadena, California, Fox announced that only 20 semifinalists -- 10 guys and 10 girls -- will be selected following a special Las Vegas round, during which the hopefuls will perform Beatles songs on the stage of Cirque du Soleil's Beatles-inspired LOVE show.  The brand-new Vegas round will follow the Hollywood round.

In addition to holdover Randy Jackson, the show has a new judges' panel that includes Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, all of whom addressed reporters at the TCA panel.  Lopez said she and fellow newcomer Steven Tyler will bring a fresh perspective to the show.

She said, “We’re artists, we’ve been up there, we’ve auditioned, we’ve been through the rank  [Steven has] toured for, what, 40 years....There’s nothing like having that type of discussion with another artist to help you grow.”

Jackson says viewers will see a different side of him this season because of all the changes, describing himself as "more of an assertive dawg."

American Idol premieres Jan. 19 with auditions in New York/New Jersey.  The Hollywood round begins Feb. 16 and the Vegas round starts on Feb. 23.  The 20 semifinalists will be chosen Feb. 24, and the 10 finalists -- as well as the judges' wild-card picks -- will be announced March 3.

'All in the Family' Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Photo Courtesy - Sony Pictures(NEW YORK) -- The groundbreaking sitcom All in the Family, starring the late Carroll O'Connor as the abrasive blue-collar racist Archie Bunker, premiered 40 years ago on Wednesday.

The show, which aired from 1971-1979, is credited as the first sitcom to address sensitive topics, such as racism, homophobia, rape and the Vietnam War.  Though it may seem ridiculous now, All in the Family was also the first major American TV show to feature the sound of a flushing toilet, which was generally considered taboo on television until then.

Produced by Norman Lear for CBS, All in the Family was based on the late 1960s British TV sitcom Till Death Us Do Part.

In addition to O'Connor, All in the Family starred Jean Stapleton as Archie's loving but dim-witted wife Edith, Sally Struthers as their "liberated" daughter, Gloria, and Rob Reiner as their son-in-law, Michael "Meathead" Stivic, who was as liberal as Bunker was conservative.  All four actors won Emmys for their work on the show.

All in the Family was the top-rated show from 1971-1976.  It spawned two successful spin-offs, Maude and The Jeffersons, as well as Archie Bunker's Place and other series.

ABC Exec. Looks Forward to Next 'Dancing with the Stars'

Photo Courtesy - ABC/ADAM LARKEY(PASADENA, Calif.) -- The cast for the new season of Dancing with the Stars hasn't been set, but one thing is certain: you won't see the kind of controversy we saw last season.

According to Access Hollywood, ABC Entertainment Group President Paul Lee told reporters Monday that the show's upcoming season "will have something different; we won’t have Bristol Palin.” The daughter of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin made it to the finals of the competition, despite consistently low scores, leading many to speculate her mother's political base kept her chances alive.

Lee said the network is, however, aiming to bring in a "really interesting cast." When asked if it would consider a same-sex ballroom couple, as has been rumored, Lee replied, "Not decided, not there."

Lee was speaking at a Television Critics Association meeting in Pasadena, Calif.  The 12th season of Dancing with the Stars will kick off in March.
