Dr. Phil Fights Back Against Dog Bite Lawsuit

Theo Wargo/WireImage for Turner(LOS ANGELES) -- TV's Dr. Phil McGraw is reportedly fighting back against a negligence lawsuit that claims his dog allegedly attacked and injured a former best friend.

RadarOnline reports lawyers for Dr. Phil have filed court papers seeking dismissal of a lawsuit filed last month by Janet Harris on the grounds it violates an agreement to arbitrate any disputes.

Harris claims she was brutally mauled by Dr. Phil and wife Robin McGraw's dog, Maggie, a purebred Korean Jindo, at their Beverly Hills mansion without warning or provocation in late 2009.  Her lawsuit seeks compensation for medical treatment costs, general damages, loss of earnings, and pain and suffering.

Harris was a frequent guest on the Dr. Phil show as a skin care specialist. Dr. Phil's attorneys claim Harris signed an arbitration agreement in 2009 in which she agreed to resolve any and all disputes between her and Dr. Phil and Robin McGraw in "binding, confidential, private arbitration..."

James Blunt 'Simply Joking' About Royal Wedding Gig

The Image Gate/Getty Images(LONDON) -- Although it is still March, James Blunt just pulled off a major April Fools joke.

The singer-songwriter recently divulged that he would lend his musical talents to the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

"I'm not singing. I'm playing the church organ there," Blunt told the Italian news channel SkyTG24, while promoting his newest album, Some Kind of Trouble.

Only problem? It's not true!

A rep for Blunt told E! News that the singer was "simply joking" and that it was "just his humor."

Celine Dion's New Las Vegas Show Opens Tuesday Night

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images(LAS VEGAS) -- It's the moment for which Celine Dion fans have been waiting for more than three years -- her return to the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Tuesday night marks the official opening of Dion's brand-new show, simply called Celine.  By all indications, this show will be as successful as her first: the initial run of dates is already sold out, and those scheduled for June through August are selling briskly.  An additional 16 shows, scheduled for between Dec. 28 and Jan. 22, will go on sale this Saturday.

At a press conference a few weeks ago when she and her family arrived back in Las Vegas, the singer told a crowd gathered at Caesars Palace, "I'm looking forward to present [the new show] to you, and I'm very very excited.  Because every time you put a show together, you wonder, 'What are we gonna do next?'  And it's going to be an amazing show."

The set list for Dion will include the singer backed by a 31-piece orchestra and performing her greatest hits, but also many cover versions, ranging from a Michael Jackson tribute, to some James Bond themes, to her versions of songs by Journey, Billy Joel, and Janis Ian.

Gilbert Gottfried Fired by Aflac over Japan Earthquake Jokes

Shawn Ehlers/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- The Aflac duck has lost its voice.

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried, who's provided the voice of Aflac's signature duck in its commercials for over a decade, has been fired by the insurance company after he tweeted 12 jokes over the weekend that made light of the devastating earthquake in Japan.

In one tweet, he wrote, "I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, 'They'll be another one floating by any minute now.'"

In another joke, Gottfried said, "Japan is really advanced.  They don't go to the beach.  The beach comes to them."

In a statement, Aflac senior vice president Michael Zuna said, "Gilbert's recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac."

Aflac noted that Gottfried did not voice the duck in its Japanese commercials.

Following the announcement, Gottfried removed the tweets in question from his Twitter page. He has a reputation for pushing the envelope of what exactly is "too soon" to joke about a tragedy: days after 9-11 he famously joked about it at a celebrity roast -- to the apparent horror of the assembled crowd. Last year, he tweeted a joke about the untimely death of friend and fellow comic Greg Giraldo shortly after he passed away.

Charlie Sheen Shoots Another Short Film

Jeff Vespa/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Charlie Sheen hasn't taken a break from acting since he was fired from Two and a Half Men.

Just days after appearing in a sketch on FunnyorDie.com, he's the star of yet another short film, this one spoofing last week's removal of his trailer from the Warner Bros. lot.

In the sketch, titled "Operation Greyhound" and posted on RadarOnline.com, he plays a character based on himself, named "Warlock."  Joined by his "Goddess" -- Natalie Kenly, one of his two real-life girlfriends -- and some other acquaintances, he hatches a plot to retrieve a trailer from a studio lot.  Sheen is seen wearing a camouflage shirt with a red beret and dog tags.

According to RadarOnline.com, Sheen incorporated real footage in the short of his trailer leaving the Warner Bros. lot, making it seem as if he and his crew were in the trailer when it was driven away.  The website says a longer version of the sketch will be released later this month.

While Eminem crossed the 30 million mark, so has Lady Gaga: she currently has 30,153,089 fans, while Eminem has 30,335,319.  Michael Jackson has 29,886,984.

Celebrities Sign Open Letter to Obama Supporting Same-Sex Marriage

Jupiterimages/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- Ellen DeGeneres, her wife Portia DeGeneres, Anne Hathaway and Glee actress Jane Lynch are calling on President Obama to legalize same-sex marriage.

The Freedom to Marry organization says those celebrities and others have signed an open letter to Obama that reads, in part, "We ask you now for your leadership on ending the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage -- an exclusion that harms millions of Americans each day.  Whether to end discrimination in marriage is a question America has faced before, and faces again today."

Freedom to Marry is asking the public to co-sign the letter, which it says will be presented to the White House in the spring.

Martin Sheen, Eric McCormack, and singers Melissa Etheridge and Mya are also among the group of entertainers, athletes, and business leaders who signed the letter.
