(COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich.) -- A man was arraigned Sunday in connection with the death of his four-month-old son.

Richard L. Gillis III was arrested Saturday after making incriminating statements regarding his son’s injuries that resulted in the boy's June 10 hospitalization at University of Michigan CS Mott Children's Hospital.  According to Detroit's WXYZ-TV, the infant suffered multiple skull and rib fractures as well as cranial bleeding.

He was taken off life support on June 14.

New District Maps Unveiled

(DETROIT) -- On Friday, state lawmakers unveiled new redistricting maps for the House and Senate.

Michigan's population has dropped since the last census and therefore the state will lose one of its 15 congressional seats. The GOP-controlled House combined the district of U.S. Reps. Gary Peters (D-Bloomfield Township), and Sander Levin (D-Bloomfield Township), which means there will be one less Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The legislators also revealed redrawn maps for the state House and Senate. The new districts will remain for at least the next ten years.

Food Stamp Corruption Efforts Win Mich. $3.3 Million Grant

(LANSING, Mich.) -- Efforts to prevent food stamp corruption won Michigan a $3.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Thursday.

The grant was announced on Thursday by Senator Debbie Stabenow, D-Lansing. It comes in the wake of dozens of food stamp scandals nationwide. The money is a kind of "most improved" award, since the state error rate dropped more than 20 percent in the past year, according to Department of Human Services Director Brian Rooney.

The grant will likely go towards the food stamp corruption crackdown.
