(LANSING, Mich.) -- A bill that would start state participation in a second Detroit River bridge was brought to the Senate floor on Wednesday.

Senate Bills 410 and 411 would require state oversight of the New International Trade Crossing. The Canadian government has agreed to finance the over $2 billion project, and the state of Michigan would repay the debt with toll profits.

The bridge would span from Detroit's Delray area to Windsor's Brighton Beach area. It would connect Interstate 75 with Ontario's Highway 401.

Report: Michigan Minimum Wage Not Enough

(LANSING, Mich.) -- A new report says childless adults are unable to live comfortably off Michigan's minimum wage.

According to the study released Tuesday by Michigan League Human Services, the state minimum wage is almost $5 less than what a single adult would need to cover basic expenses and a standard quality of living. The report also says that an hourly wage of $7.40 is roughly one third of what a single parent with one child would need to ensure economic security.

Approximately 5.5 percent of all hourly workers in Michigan earn minimum wage or less, according to the federal Bureau of Labor statistics.

Governor Snyder Accused of Not Being Conservative Enough

(LANSING, Mich) -- Governor Rick Snyder is under fire for "not being conservative enough."

Accusations of lacking party loyalty comes as the Governor considers some controversial issues, including the so-called "right to work" issue. The right to work would give union workers the right to leave their unions without fear of being fired from their jobs.

Snyder has said that if a right to work bill came to his desk, he would sign it.

In response to criticism about his loyalty to the GOP, Snyder says he doesn't like to simplify politics to party labels.

General Motors to Place $88 Million in Michigan Plant

(LANSING) -- General Motors will invest $88 million in its Lansing Grand River production plant for the assembling of a mysterious new vehicle.

The Lansing plant currently produces the Cadillac CTS as a sedan, coupe and wagon. The CTS wagon has been under scrutiny after being rated the least fuel-efficient station wagon by the U.S. Department of Energy, a label that might be behind GM's multi-million dollar investment; the automaker had received billions in a government bailout.

There are currently 917 employees at the plant. It is unclear how many jobs might be created by the move.
