Adult Day Care Owner Pleads Guilty in $10M Health Care Scam
(DETROIT) -- The owner of a Detroit-area adult day care center pleaded guilty to being involved in a $10 million health care fraud scheme.
Checarol Robinson, 41, pled guilty on Thursday to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and three counts of health care fraud.
Authorities said Robinson was the owner of a number of group homes with Medicare beneficiaries as residents, and she would give information belonging to these beneficiaries to a fraudulent psychotherapy company, in exchange for payment, with the information then being used to bill Medicare for psychotherapy services that weren't provided or unnecessary.
Robinson is scheduled to be sentenced on December 4 and faces up to 10 years in prison.
