Former McCotter Staffer Pleads No Contest in Petition Scandal

(LANSING, Mich.) -- Lorianne O'Brady, one of the four people charged with committing fraud in the petition scandal involving former Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, has pleaded no contest to the charges brought against her.

Attorney General Bill Schuette announced that on Tuesday in Wayne County's 16th District Court, O'Brady pled no contest to five counts of falsely signing a nominating petition as circulator. O'Brady is scheduled to be sentenced on October 25.

Four members of former Congressman Thaddeus McCotter's Michigan staff allegedly copied and altered petitions in order for the congressman to qualify for the 2012 Michigan ballot.

Also facing charges are Don Yowchuang, Paul Seewald, and Mary Melissa Turnbull.
