(LANSING, Mich.) -- Michigan's Department of Community Health has released its final Public Health Assessment report regarding oil that remains at the bottom of the Kalamazoo River following an oil spill in July 2010.
The report states that contact with the oil will not cause any long-term health effects or a higher than normal risk of cancer. However, officials said that contact with the oil may lead to temporary effects, such as skin irritation.
