Man Gets 3 Years in Prison for Role in $7.4M Medicare Fraud Scheme
(DETROIT) -- The manager of a health care clinic in the Detroit area has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for his role in a $7.42 million Medicare fraud scheme.
In addition to serving time behind bars, Alejandro Haber, 27, was also ordered to pay $5,333,906 in restitution, a press release from the Justice Department stated.
Haber pleaded guilty last October to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud. Court documents stated that Haber operated the Ritecare clinic, and was involved in a scheme that billed Medicare for medically unnecessary tests and services.
