Political Ad Criticizing Obama Launches Across Michigan

(WASHINGTON) -- A Republican statewide political TV ad launches across Michigan Tuesday.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Republican advocacy group Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies (GPS) will air an ad called “Basketball” that criticizes President Barack Obama.

Crossroads GPS spent $680,000 to air the ad in the Detroit, Grand Rapids, Flint, Lansing and Traverse City media markets over the next three weeks, the group announced Tuesday.

The ad features a time-elapsed portrait of a woman watching her son and daughter play basketball outside her home and growing older. The voiceover says, “They can’t find jobs to get their careers started, and I can’t afford to retire. Now we’re all living together again.” The woman’s voice continues to say she voted for Obama “because he spoke so beautifully” but that “things changed for the worse.”

The ad does not mention Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.
