Sec. Johnson Visits Troops in Middle East to Address Voting Concerns
(LANSING, Mich.) -- As the presidential election date draws nearer, Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson is in the Middle East, where she's meeting with military men and women from Michigan to address some of their concerns about being able to cast their votes back home, a release from Johnson's office stated.
"We must ensure that the men and women protecting this country by serving overseas can vote on Election Day," Johnson said in a statement. "Not just in federal elections, but in local and state elections that really matter to them and their families back home."
The week-long trip, which kicked off Sept. 8, includes stops in Kuwait and Qatar.
