Third Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup Set to Kick Off

(LANSING, Mich.) -- The year's third installment of the Adopt-A-Highway litter pickup series kicks off over the weekend.

The third and final installment for 2012 will run from Sept. 22 through Sept. 30. State Department of Transport officials are urging motorists to be on the lookout for Adopt-A-Highway volunteers, who will be clad in bright yellow-green safety vests, as they work to clean up highways across Michigan.

The program features a cleanup exercise once each season.
