Unemployment Down in All Michigan Major Labor Markets
(LANSING, Mich.) -- Unemployment numbers are down in all 17 of Michigan's major labor markets, according to information released by the state's Department of Technology, Management & Budget on Thursday.
A report by the department stated that for the month of April, in the Detroit/Warren/Livonia Metropolitan Statistical Area, the unemployment rate was 8.7 percent, a decrease from 9.6 percent the previous month.
In the Lansing/East Lansing area the unemployment rate in April stood at 6.4 percent, down from 7.2 percent in March.
And in the Grand Rapids/Wyoming area, the April unemployment rate was 6.3 percent, as compared to a rate of 7.2 percent a month earlier.
Michigan's overall unemployment rate for April was 8.3 percent, down 0.2 percent from March.
