Orlando Heats Up to a Record on Friday

iStock/Thinkstock(ORLANDO, Fla.) -- Friday was Orlando's hottest day on record in 17 years. Shortly after 4 p.m. temperatures hit 100 degrees, tying with the July 1998 heat wave.

Fortunately, thunderstorms ushered in releif hours later and Orlando temperatures dropped back into the 70s by the evening.

The hottest day ever recorded in Orlando was in May 1945, with a temperature of 102 degrees.
