(PITTSBURGH) -- Want to lose weight? Picture a snack or a good meal in your head. Now imagine yourself eating it.
According to a new study from Carnegie Mellon University, doing just that can help curb your cravings and allow you to eat less.
Researchers asked one group of people to imagine eating 30 M&M's. Another group was asked to imagine eating just three. Both groups were then offered a bowl of M&M's and told to dig in.
Those who pictured themselves eating 30 M&M's ate half as many as the group that imagined eating only three.
