(BALTIMORE) -- A new study found that scuba diving was therapeutic both physically and mentally to paralyzed veterans, according to HealthDay.
Ten paralyzed veterans and nine healthy control subjects took a scuba course in the Cayman Islands as part of the study. Researchers looked at the patients before and after the scuba course, which involved nine extensive dives over four days.
The veterans suffered less from obsessive compulsive disorder, PTSD, and depression, HealthDay reports. The control subjects experienced negligible change.
Researchers hope to test a larger subject of patients to corroborate their findings.
