Athletes Urged to Hydrate During Heatwave

RICHARD A. BROOKS/AFP/Getty Images(GREENWICH, Conn.) -- Young athletes are being reminded to hydrate during the summer heat wave by a doctor at the Pediatric Center at Greenwich Hospital in Connecticut, according to HealthDay.

Dr. Toni Salvatore warned young athletes that excessive heat can cause exhaustion and heat stroke in a hospital news release. Drinking copious amounts of water will increase circulation and prevent heat-related problems.

As temperatures break records across the country, athletes young and old are being urged to consume twice as much water as normal.
