Breast Milk Ice Cream Being Tested for Health & Safety

Photo Courtesy - Getty Images(LONDON) -- Government health officials in the U.K. have confiscated a London shop’s supply of “Baby Gaga” breast milk ice cream after receiving two public complaints about safety issues related to selling food made from bodily fluids.

The Icecreamists parlor describes its breast milk ice cream as a “totally natural treat,” and says it’s cooperating fully with Britain’s Food Standards Agency.  Matt O’Connor, founder of The Icecreamists, issued a statement saying, “As far as we are aware there is no law prohibiting a business from selling breast milk ice cream.”

The shop says the breast milk used in the ice cream is screened in accordance with blood donor requirements before being pasteurized and blended with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest.

The shop charges $22.50 for a martini glass filled with “Baby Gaga” ice cream, and pays $24 for every ten ounces of breast milk it receives. Some 15 moms have already donated.
