(CARACAS, Venezuela) -- Doctors are performing illegal butt injections on women who want bigger backsides.
In Venezuela, at least 17 women died from botched butt lifts last year.
While the procedure is banned in the United States, the injections have still killed at least 10 women in seven states.
One doctor in Venezuela, Dr. Gus, allowed ABC News to film his procedure with a 20-year-old patient named Sofia.
Dr. Gus turned a small spare bedroom in his cluttered apartment into an operating theater. During the painful procedure, Sofia received a total of 20 injections -- 10 in each cheek.
Three weeks after the procedure, Sofia told the ABC News reporters she wasn't completely satisfied with the results.
"Well I feel fine, but I am not happy with my left cheek," she said. "It looks a bit deformed. I can tell when I wear a bathing suit."
When asked about her health concerns, Sofia told the reporters, "I take extra precautions."
According to doctors in the U.S., it could take years before women see the health effects from these types of illegal injections.
Dr. Gus told ABC News reporters, "Those women are dying because they are going to anyone who will inject them. I am a doctor and I know what I am doing."
