(CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.) -- Ten children under the age of one who were subjects of investigations by the Department of Children's Services died in Tennessee during the first six months of 2012, The Tennessean reports.
Another 17 children, who had once been brought to the attention of DCS but whose cases had been closed, also died during the same period, along with four more children aged 18 and younger who died in state custody.
The data on the 31 children was released earlier this week after requests by The Tennessean and by state lawmaker Sherry Jones.
