MTSU Student Killed in Crash on Icy Road in West Tennessee

(MURFREESBORO, Tenn.) -- The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a 19-year-old Middle Tennessee State University student died Wednesday in West Tennessee after her vehicle ran off an icy road and fell into a 30-foot ditch, The Tennessean reports.

Taylor M. Stahlman, of Newbern, was thrown from the 2003 Pontiac Sunfire she was driving after it hit a slushy patch on the road and ran off Lexie Cobb Highway south of County Highway 826 in Dyer County. The crash occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m.

MTSU said Stahlman was a mass communications major at the school, according to The Tennessean.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
