Tennessee Earns 2012 Gold Shovel Award for Economic Achievement
(CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.) -- Tennessee has earned Area Development magazine's 2012 Gold Shovel awards, the Business Clarksville reports.
The award is presented annually to states that have achieved considerable success in creating jobs and impacting the economy. Texas, South Carolina and Utah also earned this year's award.
Tennessee previously received the Gold Shovel award in 2009, and received the Silver Shovel award in 2006, 2010 and 2011.
Area Development also recognized Tennessee as a 2011 Economic Development Project of the Year for the upcoming $235 million General Motors project in Spring Hill that is expected to create 2,350 jobs, the paper says.
