Mich. House and Senate Approve $7.5 Billion General Fund Budget

(LANSING, Mich.) -- A $7.5-billion general fund budget was approved Thursday by Michigan’s House and Senate.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the budget features spending plans for 13 state departments. The budgets approved Thursday cover health, public safety and the environment, among other things.

Budgets for public schools, community colleges and universities have not yet been finalized for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1.

The general fund budget will go before Gov. Rick Snyder for final approval.
