State Police Collect Nearly 700 Pounds of Drugs on 'Take Back' Day

(LANSING, Mich.) -- Michigan recently participated in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in April, and officials announced Thursday that nearly 700 pounds of prescription drugs were collected across the state.

Michigan State Police (MSP) say a total of 693.7 pounds of prescription drugs were taken in via MSP posts across the state on April 28 as part of the drug round up.

The event provided the opportunity for residents to safely dispose of unwanted or unused prescription drugs, so that the drugs may not fall into the hands of people who may abuse them.
