Talking Urinal? Unusual Approach to Drunk Driving Crackdown

(LANSING, Mich.) -- As is customary with holidays, authorities in Michigan will be cracking down on drunk driving. However, this Fourth of July, authorities will be adding a not-so-customary approach to their enforcement efforts.

State officials have announced that "talking" urinal cakes will be placed in some restrooms across the state, with a female voice coming from the urinal cake, encouraging intoxicated patrons at bars and restaurants to call a cab or a friend to get home safely.

The talking urinal devices have been distributed in Wayne, Bay, Ottawa and Delta counties. Law enforcement officers will also be out conducting increased drunk driving patrols through July 8.
