Take Back Event Nets Six Tons of Unwanted Pills

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- State authorities say they recovered nearly six tons of prescription drugs in one day during last month's collection event in Arkansas.

Officials say almost 17 million unwanted or expired pills were collected during the Oct. 29 Arkansas Take Back event in which people were encouraged to dispose of such medication to avoid it falling in the wrong hands.

Arkansas authorities say nearly 12 tons of prescription drugs have been collected over three separate Take Back events in the last 14 months.

North Little Rock Man Drives to Hospital with Gunshot Wound

(NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- A North Little Rock man was hospitalized on Sunday after being shot in the stomach, according to ABC affiliate KATV-TV.

Mohammad Alotaibi, 27, was in his car when someone approached him and opened fire. Alotaibi drove himself to the hospital and checked in for his injuries.

Police are searching for a 28-year-old suspect named Salman Alkhaldi.

Anyone with information on Alkhaldi's whereabouts is urged to call Little Rock police.

Police Search for Suspect Who Stole Rig, Crashed into Patrol Cars

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office is looking for a driver who stole a tractor trailer rig and drove into two deputies' cars on Monday morning.

Officials say the sheriff's deputies spotted the stolen rig at a commercial parking lot along Interstate 530 and Dixon Road at 4 a.m. The driver sped away from the officers but then stopped near Wright Road where he drove the rig in reverse and crashed into both patrol cars before driving away eastbound on Dixon Road. The patrol cars were damaged preventing the officers from pursuing the suspect.

The rig was found a short time later parked on the 4500 block of Neely Road. The driver was not in the vehicle. State and local police as well as tracking dogs were at the scene looking for the suspect. The suspect was not found and police are continuing their investigation.

Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Raping 5-Year-Old Girl

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- A 20-year-old man was arrested for raping and kidnapping a 5-year-old girl on Friday.

Officials say DeAngelo Sims entered the girl's home at about 5:30 a.m. on Friday and took her to a vacant home at 4301 West 25th St. where he assaulted her. She escaped and returned home where she told her family who identified Sims whom the victim knew.

Sims is charged with aggravated burglary, rape and kidnapping.

Police Puzzled over Missing Woman

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- Police remain puzzled over the disappearance of Pulaski County resident Tammy Harris, 46.

Harris was reported missing on Oct. 24.

Police say there was no sign of a struggle in her home, and the 46-year-old's cell phone has been out of service since her disappearance. Family members claim not to have heard from her for weeks.

Anyone with information as to her whereabouts should contact Pulaski County Sheriff's Office (501) 340-6600.
