Arkansas Unemployment Rate Drops

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- The Department of Workforce Services said Friday that Arkansas' unemployment rate decreased from 7.4 percent in March to 7.2 percent in April, Arkansas Online reports.

Non-farm payroll jobs increased by 6,100 in April, with 3,700 jobs added to leisure and hospitality, 1,100 jobs added to educational and health services and 800 jobs added to health care and social assistance.

Employment has been increasing in Arkansas for nine consecutive months, and April's figure was 30,700 more than the same time last year, the paper says.
