Arkansas Unemployment Rate Shows 'Signs of Improvement'

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- The unemployment situation in Arkansas is showing "signs of improvement," according to the state's Department of Workforce Services (DWS).

A report released by the department on Friday showed Arkansas' unemployment rate for March at 7.4 percent, down two tenths of a percentage point from February.

"Arkansas’ unemployment rate continues to show signs of improvement," DWS Communications Director Kimberly Friedman said in a statement. "The last time we experienced a rate of 7.4 percent was in June 2009. Additionally, March was the eighth consecutive month of employment growth."

The national unemployment rate for March stood at 8.2 percent, down from 8.3 percent the previous month.
