Displaced Residents to Return to Plaza Towers Apartment Building
(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- Residents who were displaced by a fire last week at a Little Rock high-rise apartment building will be allowed to return to their homes on Wednesday, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports.
A spokesperson for the Red Cross said that a shelter set up for evacuees will close after lunch and residents will be taken back to Plaza Towers, a 132-unit apartment complex on Markham Street across from Park Plaza Mall. The Red Cross provided accomodations for over 25 residents at the Christian Vision Academy shelter, while some with justifiable medical conditions were housed at local hotels, the paper says.
The blaze broke out June 11 in a ground-floor apartment and spread to the unit above it, killing one person and injuring multiple other residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the Democrat-Gazette.
