Man Stuffs Walmart Steaks Down Pants, Injures Officer

(LITTLE ROCK, Ark.) -- A 49-year-old man stole steaks from a Walmart on Tuesday and injured an off-duty police officer working as a security guard, ABC affiliate KATV-TV reports.

An employee of the Walmart at 8801 Baseline Road said she saw 49-year-old James Thompson stuffing steaks down his pants, and chased him from the store. Shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, off-duty police officer Kyron Doucette, who was working as a security guard, called for back up. He was wrestling with Thompson, and his right eye was injured in the struggle. When other officers arrived, Officer Doucette was sitting on top of Thompson, who was charged with robbery, battery on a police officer, fleeing and theft of property.

His bond was set at $36,000.
